The Selection panel selected four finalists to participate in a design competition, based on their qualifications. The finalists will be will be invited to prepare a preliminary El Presidio Park Master Plan and preliminary Memorial design concepts.
The four finalists are:
- Ibarra Rosano Design Architects (Tucson, AZ) The team consists of Luis Ibarra, Teresa Rosano, Brad Lang and Janeth Vega-Flores. All four are graduates of the University of Arizona School of Architecture. Past projects include the Herberger Theater Center Renovation; Westin Phoenix Downtown Hotel; Glendale CBD Master Plan: the Farm and the Border Film Project at the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art.
- Logan Simpson Design (Tempe, AZ) The team consists of designer and landscape architects Chad Atterbury and Jeremy Palmer, archeologist and historic preservation expert Kathryn Leonard and graphic artist Jeff Lothner. Team members have worked on Civic Space Park (Phoenix); Centennial Plaza (Peoria, AZ); FBI Regional Field Office (Phoenix); and North Grant Park Renovation (Chicago, IL).
- Chee Salette Architecture Office (Los Angeles/Bonn, Germany/Tucson, AZ) The team consists of architect Marc Salette and architect/landscape designer Tina Chee of Chee Salette Architecture Office (CSAO); artist Rebeca Mendez of Rebeca Mendez Design (RMD); lighting designer Wilfried Kramb of ag LICHT; and media consultant Jackie Kain. CSAO work includes the Orange County Crime Victim Memorial (Irvine, CA). RMD work includes way finding Master Plan Cal Tech (Pasadena, CA). Work of ag LICHT includes exterior lighting in the renovated Fulda University Square (Germany).
- HOK (Chicago, IL) The team consists of Domenic Salpietra, Regional Leader of Planning at HOK (UA School of Architecture graduate) and Ashley Craig, landscape architect. Selected work of Mr Salpietra, prior to joining HOK, includes Empire High School campus (Tucson); TMC Master Plan and projects; Tianjin TEDA “Wit Valley Master Plan (Tianjiin, China); and Central Barangaroo Master Plan (Sydney, Australia). Ms. Ohle’s work includes University of Missouri Healthcare Healing Garden, Belmong Playground (Bronx, NY); and Wellmark Blue Cross/Blue Shield LEED-Certified Campus (Des Moines, Iowa).
